BROOKLYN ATLANTIC

¡Fo Reels, Yo! (...and for rants, and for other things too.)

November, 2008
FINALLY!
november 4th, 2008, 11:00 PM, EST.  A mandate so large, it was not only fool proof, but more importantly Diebold proof, Hanging Chad proof, and to the chagrin of Antonin Scalia, even United States Supreme Court proof.

November 4th, 2008, 11:00 PM, EST.  The Atlantic States, Great Lake States, Pacific States (with the help of Colorado and New Mexico too) proclaimed that they do not share in Heartland values, reject fictional pseudo-populist icons like Joe Sixpack, Joe the Plumber, and their actual yet just as faux counterparts like "Samuel the back tax owing, welfare receiving, unlicensed Plumber" as well.

The message is clear.  Despite vast Evangelical dominated stretches not yet touched by Howard Dean's 50 State Strategy, this is indeed a center-left nation.  One which, dating back to 1992, has voted Democratic in four out of the past five Presidential elections.

November 4th, 2008, 11:00 PM, EST.  America did not hide from history.  America made history.  America stood up, and as Barack Obama crossed the Commander In Chief threshold, took its first step towards change.

Regime change we can believe in.

Brooklyn, circa 1948.  The audacity of stealing home.
Brooklyn, 2008.  The calm before the storm.

Above, the greatest members of America's greatest generation.

Below, festive crowds in Times Square enjoying the fruits of their labor, and the labor of the millions of other heroes who made November 4th, 2008 possible.  Mission accomplished.

This is our moment, this is our time!

Yes, we can!  Si se puede!  Oui, on peut!  Si, noi possiamo!
The day after.  Fired up, ready to go!*
